With a new year comes a new fashion season, and therefore a new wardrobe. As we look back at the Spring/Summer 17 catwalk trends of last September, I’ll try my best to find out what we’ll all be wearing this upcoming spring.
From Gucci to Valentino, the runway was full of models dressed head-to-toe in candy-coloured clothes. Just as celebrities, from Rihanna to Gigi Hadid, were seen in pink coats last Autumn/Winter, we guarantee they will be seen again sporting pink dresses and loose trousers come warmer weather.
Logo and Slogan Tees
Gucci once again impressed us with their statement prints, featuring wild animals like this tiger logo t-shirt. Front Row celebrities were also spotted wearing logo tees at many a fashion show, and designers such as Vanessa Seward, Sacai, Dior and House of Holland, among others, showcased t-shirts sprawled with slogans.
An extremely popular bag last season, whose popularity will most likely continue into this one, is the J.W. Anderson ‘Pierce’ bag. It was last seen on celebrities such as blogger Susie Lau and American Marie Claire magazine Style and Accessories Director Taylor Tomasi Hill. Loewe’s tapestry bag is also a favourite, as well as teeny bags like Chloé’s Nile Bracelet bag.
Just like black, white is a colour that will never go out of style. Update your wardrobe for summer with lighter pieces, and make like Courrèges or Preen by opting for a whole head-to-toe white look. Although not denim, Rihanna’s Fenty X Puma collection also joined in on the all white trend, modernising corsets and stacked pearls.
The Eighties are back again this season (did they ever go away)? as everything from slip dresses, chokers and sequins to OTT ruffles, big shoulders and band tees were featured on the Spring/Summer 17 catwalks. Of course, not forgetting Saint Laurent’s gold lamé dress and Rodarte’s red cocktail dress with stand-out sleeves.
